The button in the top left corner is where you can purchase upgrades and clicking on the screen moves a "brush" around to help move logs if they get stuck and/or you want to move them faster.

Story you have accepted an absurd loan from a bank that drains your money faster with every coming second. You took out this loan to start a logging company so might as well see how long you can stay afloat.
